Rides & Events

Check this page often for updated listings of all types of cycling events in and around our area. Rides require, at a minimum, an appropriate bike in good working order, water, and a helmet. We suggest a spare tube, energy food, maybe a little cash in case we stop, and your biggest smile! Many rides are held subject to weather. It's a good idea to confirm dates, time and any specific requirements, too. We'll see you out there — and have fun!

Crown City Cyclists

In 1980, two local riders, Pat Callahan and Tim Sullivan, began meeting during the week to ride around Coronado. Two weeks after their first ride they were joined by George Moore, followed by Porkchop, and then Debbie Callahan. Initially, this small group of riders consisted of just fellow neighbors along Margarita Avenue but soon more riders joined the group. A few weeks later, the group of neighbors was joined by the first non-Margarita riders, Frank and Laura Rockwell. Now twenty-five years later the Crown City Cyclists have grown from just a few neighbors and friends to over 120 members and still counting. Thanks to the dedication of a few local riders Cornado now has a thriving cyclist community with numbers increasing every year. As a proud sponsor of the Crown City Cyclists, Holland's Bicycles would like to wish the group a big Congratulations on their 25th anniversary.

If you are interested in joining CCCyclists, come along on one of the scheduled bi-weekly rides. All levels of riders are welcome to join. Rain or shine CCCyclists meet for Saturday rides at 7:00 AM sharp from the vicinity of 633 Margarita Ave. Coronado. During the work week, you can also join the CCCyclists for the Wednesday ride at 6:00 PM leaving from behind Holland's Bicycle Shop, 977 Orange Ave, Coronado. In addition to the weekly rides, members of the CCCyclists also participate in various races in and around Southern California. For more information please email CCCyclist Web Manager hll@san.rr.com.
